What you can keep in your diary
Bowel movements
Choose a Bristol stool type from 1 to 7 and record color, blood or mucus you notice, and symptoms such as pain or bloating. Use the same fields each time to make your entries easier to compare.
Urine color and water
Log urine color and water intake alongside your bowel records. Set a daily water goal and see how much you have logged. These entries are observations, not a diagnosis of hydration or illness.
Food and habits
Record coffee, alcohol, dairy, spicy food, stress, poor sleep, and other possible triggers. Look back at what happened around changes in your digestion without assuming that a food caused them.
Trends and PDF reports
Review your records over time. From Settings, export a PDF summarizing the last 90 days and choose whether to share it. The report can support a conversation with a clinician; it does not interpret symptoms for you.
How to start a bowel diary
- Download bellySignal from the App Store or Google Play and start without signing in.
- Use the add button to record a bowel movement, urine color, water, or food and habits.
- Return to Trends to review your entries. Export a PDF from Settings when you want a summary.
How records and analytics are handled
Your diary is stored on your device, and no account is required. Selected health values, including stool type, symptoms and manually entered weight, are also sent to PostHog and Firebase Analytics. Both services are enabled by default. The analytics switch controls PostHog only; Firebase Analytics remains active. Exports and health-platform integration are optional. See the privacy policy for the full data-handling notice.
Privacy policyKnow what the app can tell you
bellySignal is a self-recording tool. It does not diagnose IBS, food intolerance, dehydration, or other conditions, and an association in your diary does not establish a cause. It does not replace medical advice or provide a treatment plan. Signing in does not currently sync your diary between devices.
